Oh, Monday! #2

It's Monday again! Two weeks ago, my Monday was something else; my day when from really great to almost bad in about ten minutes.

You can read about it here, but I wanted to follow up on it because it's worth hearing how it turned out.

As I sorted out car troubles and finding a new house, I saw evidence of God's grace along the way. I could have easily chose not to believe that God would be faithful and wallow in the disappointment, but against all the odds (and all I could see!) I wanted to believe that God would work everything out for good.

And the reason for choosing faith in God over mayhem and worry was because we have a track record together. There have been many times in my life that God has been faithful to provide--whether it's an encouraging phone call or text from a friend when I'm having a hard time or finding a lost set of keys, mending my heart after divorce, or making a way for a career after college--God has been faithful in my life and I chose to lean back in and believe.

Here's how the week unfolded: My cute guy was out of town for a conference, so he agreed to let me borrow his car for the week, so I'd have something to drive. Shortly after that conversation, a girlfriend asked how she could help. I mentioned that I needed a ride to grab the car and she was at my house a couple hours later. Sweet! I had a cute "rental" for the week.

On Tuesday against every responsible bone in my body, I went snowboarding with a group of Marines that I had previously committed to be a program chaperone. It was beyond the respite that my heart needed!

Wednesday, my problems where still there when I awoke! I had lunch with one of the sweetest girls I know which warmed my heart and encouraged my soul. I received a free tow to a mechanic of my choice through my car insurance's Roadside Assistance program. The mechanic checked out my car and within twenty minutes had found the issue and reported no engine damage; only a faulty pressurized hose.

Call it coincidence, but the total amount due for the maintenance was the exact amount of cash I had stashed away months earlier.

That night another sweet friend offered to help me finish packing and brought over dinner.

Thursday, I awoke literally to a Word from God. When I opened my email Thursday morning, the first email in my inbox was Klove's Encouragement of the Day: Philippians 4:19.

I almost cried. I couldn't believe it. What a big promise from God as things in my world were still spinning. A couple hours later, I got a text and was looking at two new properties in Encinitas as potential move-ins.

With our move-out day quickly approaching and still no place to call home, my brother and I looked into storage units, booked the moving truck and had friends offer up garage space and rooms for us if needed. We kept moving forward as we continued to see great opportunity and provision.

Friday morning we both went to work still uncertain on a house, but by the afternoon, we had decided on a cute little beach house in the Cardiff area. We signed the lease and moved in the next day.

This move was the smoothest, best move I've ever experienced. The boys were amazing at moving furniture and packing the truck. I had great help with cleaning the condo and putting on the final touches. Everything was moved, the condo cleaned and truck returned by early Saturday afternoon...just in time for us to hit the slopes on Sunday with some friends.

Let me tell you that I have no desire to redo that week ever again! There were times where all I could do to maintain my faith and sanity is to recall God's faithfulness in my past.

We each have a similar story whether we know it or not. Serendipity, coincidence or simply good luck, but I truly believe it's God at work. We are still praising God for the cutest little house and hope to host many deLinde BBQ's in the future!

xoxo

Jes

P.S. Come see the new place!
